“Love yourself enough to create an environment in your life that is positive to nourish your personal growth. A vibrant surrounding and self commit to making choices that will help your greatest expression of your unique beauty and purpose of your personal growth.”
This quote really inspired me to speak about something we all don’t pay enough attention to; growth.
Growth is a personal challenge that many of us in life are trying to overcome and achieve excellence with grace. As we grow older, it becomes harder to push through life and we may lose hope along the way.
As a child, I went through a really tough time after losing my rock, my mother at a very sensitive age. This created alot of resentment within me and I had to toughen up to face the cruel world. I developed behavioural issues which hindered my day to day growth and was always caught in an endless series of conflict within what my mind knew and my heart wanted.
The biggest challenge I overcame in these 10 years was learning to control my impulses and trying to let go of dead ends. I was told I wouldn’t survive with the arrogant attitude and independent thought process I had. I wanted to thrive! I needed people to go through this journey we call life and it became extremely evident when I started losing people around me because I just wanted to do everything I could, on my own.
It took time for me to be able to trust people and give them room in my personal space to communicate and guide me. I became so used to taking care of everything that it was a foreign concept for me to embrace a helping hand when I was losing myself amidst the chaos. I learnt to accept and let those that care stand by me. I stopped punishing myself and giving myself a hard time and realised it’s okay to not be okay and ask for help.
Personal growth is never limited to monetary things or tangent valuables. It is always the battle we fight within to overcome those habits that bring us down and hinder us from showcasing who we truly as as individuals. Don’t let your past define your future. There is always room for improvement and learning. You deserve to be happy and cared for and letting yourself free from all these constraints is what matters. Being a strong woman does not mean you have to go through it alone. Even the strongest soldiers need time to recharge, they need affection and appreciation.
My personal growth is still in the works but I am proud of how far I have come.
You too can achieve your milestones if only you do better than what you did yesterday. Never lose focus.
Until next time.
