Will the International launch for Disney Plus streaming replace Netflix?

Disney is betting big on its 2019 streaming service, Disney Plus, the entertainment giant’s place to stream almost all things Disney. It will be the exclusive home for streaming the company’s blockbuster Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar movies — Avengers: Endgame, for example, will be available to stream. But more than that, Disney is also ramping up a slate of original shows and movies based on those brands and others.

Disney will begin its international roll-out of Disney Plus on the same day – Nov. 12 – that the direct-to-consumer service launches in the U.S., with a push into Canada and the Netherlands, followed a week later by Australia and New Zealand.

In addition, Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer and International group announced Monday that it had reached global agreements with Apple, Google, Microsoft, Roku, and Sony to distribute the Disney Plus app across partner mobile and connected-TV devices.

Disney’s biggest surprise about the new streaming service was its price: Disney Plus alone will cost $7 a month in the US, half the price of HBO Now and a big discount compared with Netflix.

The Disney Plus streaming service will be a competitor to video streaming services such as Netflix, HBO Now and — later this year — Apple TV Plus. It’s a paid subscription without any advertising, and it gives customers access a vast library of Disney’s and Fox’s legacy content as well as new, exclusive TV shows, movies and documentaries.`

So is the Disney Plus streaming service going to replace our favourite Netflix?
