Where is our content heading?

If I take a trip down the memory lane I remember PTV prime time 8:00 pm was the time when the entire family sat together and watched a Pakistani drama. The drama was usually family drama with dramatic emotional scenarios that hustled around a typical Pakistani family. It might be an over dramatic Saas Bahu story but definitely something that the entire family could watch together.

Now when I tried to recreate memories with my family unfortunately I could not reason being the unreasonable content. With so many channels in option there was hardly any drama that I could watch with my teenage daughter and elderly parents without being embarrassed.

I understand taboo topics should be discussed but there should be a way to it and like everywhere around the globe content should be run with a warning, be it trigger warning or content that’s not advisable to be discussed in front of all age groups.

I mean dramas literally discuss topics such as extra marital affairs, self-harm and even violence and that too without any trigger warning. It will take me pages and pages if I start mentioning each drama that I have witnessed so I’ll leave that for another time and try to discuss them one by one in my upcoming blogs.
