How to update your skincare routine for autumn!

Now that fall is just around the corner, its time to not only shake up your wardrobe, but also your skin care routine. During the hot summer months, our skin care revolved around sun protection and oil control but now that the crisp, cool autumn air is approaching, it’s time to change gears and think about keeping your skin soft and moisturized. To help you enter into fall with beauty and grace, we have put together a list of products that will keep your skin velvety smooth all season long.

Exfoliate

A lot of people think that exfoliation can increase dryness something we already have enough of during the cooler months but in reality, its the best way to treat parched, flaky skin.

After hours in the sun your complexion can begin to look dehydrated and sallow, so its important to get rid of the dead damaged cells. This way, your skin will be prepped to absorb more moisture and improve the effectiveness of nourishing products. The Body shop charcoal mask will help you a lot to exfoliate your skin and remove all the dead cells and skin.

Moisturize:

Hot summer days can cause serious dehydration so the moisture lots needs to properly supplemented before winter rears its head. If you have dry skin already you really need to knuckle down that hydration to stop your skin from getting flaky so opt for a cream specifically designed to prevent moisture loss. Make sure to look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid which is known for its extra hydrating properties.

For those with oily skin, applying a heavy cream can feel a little too much but you can still benefit from additional moisturising come winter. Instead of skipping it altogether look for a light, oil-free formula.

Best for Lips: Fresh Sugar Lip Polish:

Lips need special care to keep them smooth and comfortable. Fresh Brown Sugar Lip Polish protects against chapping and conditions with grapeseed oil and shea butter.

Hands:

While we are well accustomed to keeping a lip balm in our pockets and enlisting the help of heavy winter face creams to battle against the cold, there is one part of the body that often gets overlooked; our hands.Constantly exposed, the cold weather quickly ravages delicate skin but don’t fret because, as always, the beauty industry has a seriously indulgent solution. Make sure to invest in a rich, buttery hand cream now and you’ll reap the benefits all winter long.

Three Keys to Your Best Skin:

Keep in mind the three keys to your best skin this fall:

  • Notice how your skin reacts to the change in weather
  • Notice how your skin looks throughout the day
  • Adjust your skin care routine to match what you’re needing

Remember that anytime you add a product or change your routine, your skin will need time to adapt. Use your new routine for at least a couple weeks before determining that it’s not working.

Make product changes gradually. Start with just changing your cleanser and give that a week or so then change your toner and watch how your skin responds with each change. Give it the time it needs to level out before you make your next change.

and the most important part:

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

All this dry, blustery weather is dehydrating to our skin. We can (and should) drink glass after glass of water but because the skin is part of creating a balance in our internal and external worlds, sometimes we need a little extra topical hydration to fight that external battle. Our Serums are created just that! Use them just before your moisturizer to plump up the skin.
