Let’s protect transgenders with love, respect and dignity!

In spite of a lot of efforts and social interventions, transgender people have not been successful in establishing their self-respect and respectful way of earning.

Begging, dancing, singing at family events are the only ways for them to earn.

In every big city, homes and training centers should be established. These centers may run in public sector or public-private partnership. The only training imparted to them will be state-of-the-art ladies stitching and tailoring, in addition to embroidery and related work.

The practice should be established to a level that in future transgender should become synonymous with women’s tailors. They can supply their products to the local ready made garment market. This will empower this innocent class of society.

On International Human Rights Day, BBDO and Proximity Pakistan collaborated with Asia Pacific Transgender Network to bring a crucial issue to the forefront with the launch of a campaign called #ChangeTheClap – to raise awareness about the hardships faced by transgender people and was taken very seriously by our nation.

I urge our society to implement the idea again if it’s feasible. Let’s protect Trans with love, respect and dignity!
