To all the ladies out there, it’s time for You to be the Boss & #ShaanSeShine

Considering the fact that we live in a male dominant society amidst all those burdening societal norms and cultures for women, brands like Sunsilk have always seemed to push the barriers and give a voice to empowering girls. Likewise, we all came about a roadblock on 8th December when all of a sudden our social media pages were trending with female influencers with diverse backgrounds posting black & white photographs of their back and hair, with captions that seemed to be struggles they had all been through at some point in life.

The captions highlighted struggles these influencers came across with the typical beginning Unhone kaha‘ and all that would end up to the so-called free advice of ‘tum bus betho aur baalsambhalo‘. But if these boss ladies would have given up on their dreams and sat home then the world would have been very different from how we see it today.

Time lapse of how these pictures turned into reality; the second phase of the Sunsilk #ShaanSeShine campaign took an even better turn than what we had all expected. The black and white images of these female influencers turned out to be videos where they revealed their faces with heads held up high, sharing their struggles of life and how they broke societal barriers; teaching us that conventional gender norms are now backdated.

Sunsilk #Shaanseshine put light on the tough situations girls in our country have to hear every day based on subjugated cultural and societal norms. ‘Log kya kahainge‘ is a statement that still haunts every girl in our country and it was about time someone highlighted this issue publicly. These stories of leading ladies from different backgrounds are not only thought-provoking, but impactful and inspire us greatly to stand for what we can do better in & for the society; especially for those young girls who want to shine and make their dreams come true. So be it a film star or drama artist, entrepreneur or sportswoman, journalist or blogger, these ladies are truly motivating and powerful!

What excited us even further than the campaign itself were the followers who inspired greatly from every story these ladies had to tell and how these comments showed that the #ShaanSeShine campaign lived up to every girls expectation!

It’s not every day that we come about such strong and power-packed campaigns, which delivers a message that could turn lives if not many but at least ONE! There is no doubt that we want to see many more influencing campaigns like #ShaanSeShine that inspire us to be better, believe in ourselves and fulfill our dreams with heads held up high.

Sunsilk surely made its place loud and clear, trending on every homepage with stories that motivated every girl that came across these influencing videos. Nonetheless, social media was taken over with these beautiful monochromatic hair photographs of prominent female key opinion leaders belonging from different walks of life as they used the hashtag #ShaanSeShine, thus depicting the true meaning of Black Shine with Sunsilk.
