“A mentor is not someone who walks ahead of you to show you how they did it. A mentor walks alongside you to show you what you can do.”
In life we come across various people who are either our bosses, acquaintances, colleagues or peers. They tend to have an impact on our lives whether we acknowledge it or not. Some may be positive while others not so much.
During this process of our growth, we come across people we idolise, look upto and learn from to improve ourselves and aid our growth.
They are called mentors.
Now a mentor is not every senior or adult you meet. It is someone that truly pushes you to be better and guides you from their experiences, ensuring you take steps that benefit you as a whole. Their main aim is to encourage us not just on a professional level but a personal level too.
A true mentor makes sure they teach you in the most constructive way possible and never belittle you. Such people are truly hard to find and once you do, don’t lose them.
I’ve been lucky to have some wonderful mentors that have helped me see the hope within and progress fearlessly. They taught me life is not about winning but consistency. They taught me love, patience and acceptance and for that, I truly thank them.
You know who you are.
Until next time.
