The “PCOS” Dilemma.

“Tumne wapis weight put on karliya? yeh wali dieting karo”.

Heard this phrase a but too many times and I can’t emphasise enough on the fact that if you don’t have PCOS, don’t pass an opinion.

As someone who has been clinically diagnosed with PCOS, around 15 years ago surely knows the drill when it comes to society, uncertain weight gain, exercise, eating habits and extreme hormonal changes.

The amount of times I have lost weight only to regain it back and the endless struggle to decide what to eat or which exercises to adapt has been honestly draining.

However, the one thing I do know that whatever works for a regular person does NOT work with PCOS and it’s so crucial for people around you to understand that their unsolicited advice is not needed.

Did you know that it takes someone with PCOS 5 times more effort to lose the same amount of weight that a regular person would shed?

Did you know the cure for PCOS is not losing weight infact it’s a gluten, sugar and dairy free lifestyle with healthy fats incorporated in your meals? The key is to maintain your insulin and cortisol levels which initially trigger weight gain?

Moreover, once you adapt that lifestyle and avoid crash diets, it is only then will you be able to attain the results.

The next time someone decides to “rain on your parade”, send them a link to this blog and ask them to google the facts.

Let’s go cysters.

Until next time.
