“THE CHAOS IN MY HEAD”

BY DANIYAH MUSTAFA

Imagine you’re at the beach, you’re busy making a little sandcastle putting in all your efforts, creativity, and all the imaginations you have gotten. Suddenly, a huge wave crashes and shatters your entire hard work and within a moment, your sandcastle has gone forever. We all strive for something by struggling through something in different ways. Many times, we feel our efforts are left unnoticed or worthless, which is why we feel that our best self is no more the best. Our negative self convinces us that we can’t build the same sandcastle again at the same place in the same size. This thought and conviction lead us to lose hope, not making efforts we simply feel worthless!

If we ever ponder over it, we will have a realization that if we can’t build the same sandcastle, we surely can build a smaller one but a better one at a better place. At those very times, we ask ourselves a few questions. Why me? Why now? Why did this happen? All these unanswered questions haunt us as we search for answers and drain our energy into finding those answers. Deep inside we know we won’t get the answers to it but still, we trouble ourselves, worth nothing. You’re just standing there with a feeling that the world around you is racing, at a pace so fast that no matter how hard you try you fear that you will be left behind. You try running, running as fast as you can to catch the train but every time you get close to catching it something comes in the way and makes you lose it.
The feeling of intense loneliness and defeat that follows is baffling. Drowning into a pool of thoughts, which was already so full of negative thoughts. What happens then?

Left lonely with a defeated feeling, which further drowns you into the pool of thoughts, which was already so full. What happens next?
Don’t think too much! It is going to be okay! Don’t worry! Get busy! Oh man it happens with everyone chill. We humans, don’t even realize that how easy these words are for us to speak but how hard it is for the one who hears them.
That moment it just feels as if the heart is speaking but at the same time it’s betraying us, we see that happening trying to stop our fears but everything just slips away, no matter how hard you try you can’t stop the waves from crashing the shore. They crash the shore again and again they leave behind something and take away something.
Sometimes we want something it takes away and sometimes it gives us something we don’t want. We crave for peace that feeling where your heart just won’t race for once. Long lost. We search for answers to lessen the weight on our hearts, which is just too heavy to carry.

One thing struggling with my mental and physical health has taught me is that to achieve your goals you have to pick up your weight. No one is going to pick it up for you. No one is going to be always available for you, we all have our races in life. Yes, some of us will have amazing support in the form of family, friends, or any other relationship but some of us won’t have any support at all.
There will be days when you barely make it, days when you manage to pick it up only to see it fall within seconds, but don’t let that discourage you. As one day not only will you be able to pick it up but you manage to carry it with grace and courage.

Some days are so dull, they leave you feeling unsatisfied about yourself and you don’t know what to do to cheer yourself up but that is the real challenge. Facing our fears and challenges helps us bring out the best of us. We need to remind ourselves on those days that we are not what other people say we are. Different people will have different perceptions about you. So, don’t be so hard on yourself, be yourself and try to be comfortable within yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Compare yourself with whom you were and who you are.

In the end, people who choose to love us despite all of our flaws are the ones who are going to stay. Lift yourselves and know that your struggles will only make you stronger. Don’t lose yourself and your interests while you are fighting your battles. It’s hard but not impossible! One of the hardest things in life is to keep patience, but we need to remind ourselves that it is going to be fruitful in the end. Trust yourself and Allah throughout your life. Trust me you will start finding peace within yourself. Until then, hang in there.

Do you know what you carry much more weight than you think you can? Yes! You feel that you’ll fall and you do, again and again, every time you get up with a hope that you will fall again, sometimes you do and then there is one time when you rise to not fall and that’s where you know you’ve survived through & won the battle within yourself. Every passing second your heart sinks inside you, your fingers shiver, your voice trembles, your body shakes and you feel every heartbeat of yours.
Even in the brightest of all places you see nothing but darkness.

To make yourself feel safe you’d hide where no one could find you or where you are safe from those deadly triggers. Standing still yet running as fast as we can away from our fears as our human instinct convinces us. That confused state strikes in, where we question ourselves that running away would help or it would not. Some give up at the cost of their life and some losses for the time being but win their life.
If you are that person who lost, struggled, and still made it feel proud of yourself. It is not easy but it is not impossible and worth it!
