Eid-ul-Adha is here and the hustle bustle of children rushing to care for their sacrificial animals is proof. The rains in Karachi have made things slightly difficult as many people suffered due to their animals becoming ill or passing away because of electric wires. This is an unfortunate side of the system we have in our country. With no proper places to keep animals, many people resort to setting up tents to provide them shelter but the rain has surely proven to be fatal this time around.
What bothers me the most is how people will manage to sacrifice their animals and the amount of mess it will make considering the roads are filled with water. Not only will the blood and discards make room for diseases but the contaminated water is likely to become a breeding ground for bacterial infections.
With inflation sky rocketing, my heart goes out to those that lost their “qurbani ka janwar” in the torrential rains.
For those of us celebrating, try providing as much as you can to the needy and don’t just hand them meat but also some oil and spices since inflation has made it impossible for many to afford it.
Hope things go well and smoothly. May God accept everyone’s contribution.
Until next time.
