Phupho ? Naam tou suna he hoga !
So let’s talk about ‘Phupho’. Let me tell you who exactly is Phupho. Our father’s sister is known as ‘Phupho’ in desi and Pakistani families. It is basically used in South Asian families. Having a jealous Phupho is a whole another level experience that I believe every other kid experience. I myself have experienced and I guess still experiencing…lol !
“Aray mera bhai tou gora hai, uski itni kaali beti kesi hogayi ?”
“Zyada dark colour ki lipstick laganay ki zaroorat nahi hai !”
These kind of taunts that I have been listening through out my childhood till now, that I have become used to it. Jealousy is a negative emotion that can stem from a variety of sources, including insecurity, comparison, and fear of loss. When dealing with a jealous phupho, it is important to remain calm and objective. Try to understand where their jealousy is coming from and why they may be feeling threatened or insecure.
But there are few Phupho’s and aunts in the world, SOMEWHERE apparently, who are genuinely very nice and sweet as well. Those who genuinely care about their nieces and nephews and I believe those kids are blessed to have them in their lives!
