STOP BODY SHAMING!

Body shaming means the action or practice of humiliating someone by making mocking or critical comments about their body shape or size. Expressing mockery or criticism about a person’s body shape or size is not okay. Making fun of someone’s weight or body is not okay. People go through body image issues since they hit puberty. Many people have the mindset that our weight determines our beauty.

Many people think that only consuming more carbs can make us gain and what not. But this is not the truth, weight gain can be caused by some underlying health diseases, sometimes due to genetic disorders and sometimes due to mental health disorders. In our society, many people think that thin bodies are inherently better and healthier than larger bodies. Body shaming is most often about body size, body physique, body hair, food shaming but negative comments about any facet of a person’s body counts as body shaming. Body shaming has very negative consequences on mental health as well. It can cause anxiety, body dysmorphic disorder, depression and psychological distress etc.

Being healthy is our choice, but someone being body-shamed cannot be justified at all. A person’s emotional button can be hit if we give compliments through their body sizes. SO STOP BODY SHAMING! Live and let others live peacefully too.
