Sophie Turner Admits Fans May Be ‘Upset’ With Game Of Thrones Ending

Sophie Turner has admitted she thinks ‘a lot of people will be upset’ with the ending of Game of Thrones, which concludes tonight in the US and tomorrow evening in the UK.

Speaking to The Sunday Times magazine ahead of the highly anticipated final, Turner – who plays Sansa Stark – said: “It’s a great ending, from my perspective, it’s very satisfying.

“But I think a lot of people will be upset too. I’ve just told Joe [Jonas, her husband]. But he’s so mad at me – he loves the show!”

Mind you, it could simply mean that we’ll feel sad for the show to end, regardless of what actually happens in the finale – but while many of us aren’t yet ready to wave goodbye to Game of Thrones, Turner admitted it was definitely a ‘relief’ for the show to come to an end.

I’ve had a bit of an identity crisis, to be honest,” she said.

I’ve grown up for so many years as this character. If I wasn’t filming, I was promoting it; if I wasn’t promoting it then it was on TV.

I was immersed in Sansa, so finally stepping out of it, I don’t actually know what I like to do or who I really am.”

However, she did also say she’d learnt a great deal from the experience, adding of her character: “She’s taught me resilience, because we both kind of started out wide-eyed.

Me not realising what the industry really was, her not realising what the world of Westeros really was.”

Turner may have warned us that the ending of the HBO fantasy series will be ‘very satisfying’ but upsetting, but it seems many fans have already made their mind up about the eighth season – having called for a remake.

More than ONE MILLION people have been so enraged by the twists and turns of the final series (not least Daenerys’ very unexpected killing spree) that they’ve signed a petition to get the whole thing rewritten with ‘competent writers’.

The caption for the petition reads: “David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.”

He continues: “This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”

I mean, it’s not going to happen, but if it’s making people feel better then I guess that’s just fine…
