CEO BOL News Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh has clarified the propaganda and causes behind false and illegal cases against the Axact company, the only company that contributed 82% of IT exports of Pakistan.
“Bol News, which made a commitment to give journalists a platform on which they could practise honest journalism, was set to begin when the government initiated the lawsuit against Axact. Bol News had promised to adhere to “HaqeeqiJournalism.” However, it irritated the government,” he said.
Shoaib Shaikh said the government filed a case of cheating and fraud against Axact, claiming that the IT-oriented firm had cheated someone. However, no one in Pakistan or anywhere else in the globe has ever filed a complaint alleging that the organisation had defrauded him, he said.
Therefore, he said, the investigation officer of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted his statement to the court not only mentioning that he found nothing against Axact, but also that even the alleged crime was not committed. “Just imagine, what kind of false case it was,” he said.
Moreover, the BOL News CEO said in a fraud case one could get bail on personal guarantee right away, but in this case bail was not granted even after passage of 1.5 years. He said Axact’sIT export was worth 355 million dollars out of 432 million dollars total IT export of the country at that time.
“When you will treat like this to those who are bringing dollars into the country, then the economy will suffer the same way as it is doing now,” he said.
He said if the government wanted to file a case against him, fine, but it seized all the assets, vehicles and even lodged an FIR against his mother and wife. What an awful form of a false case it was, he said.
Shoaib Shaikh said once they were vindicated by the court but at the eleventh hour, it announced to halt its decision. He said those who did not bow down and spoke the truth had to face such cases. Similar cases were filed against Sami Ibrahim, Arshad Sharif, Imran Riaz and even PTI chief Imran Khan, he said.
Furthermore, he said the monument of late senior anchorperson Bol News Arshad Sharif would be unveiled by his mother, after the political situation settles down. “I believe that Arshad Sharif was a leading torch-bearer of ‘Haqeeqi Sahafat’ and he did not withdraw an inch from the truth,” he said adding that he even laid his life for that purpose.
The Bol News CEO said he wanted to make it clear that it was not his business, but his preference was to do the real journalism. “This is the difference,” he said.
