Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, a two-time Oscar and Emmy award winner, is back with another powerful story this time. Her new short film is about Lél’s artistic collective which focuses on works related to natural stone – semiprecious & marble. These are proudly handcrafted by local artisans and Afghan refugees in Peshawar, Pakistan.
Lél is the product of the creative minds of this mother and daughter duo: Farhana Asad and Meherunissa Asad. Both the ladies are using the knowledge passed on from generations.
Sharmeen’s ode to the artisans of Peshawar and Afghan refugee is worth watching.
