After starring in three movies based on the Divergent book series, Shailene Woodley is officially done playing Tris. She has now confirmed that she definitely will not be participating in the franchise’s move to the TV.
When the actress was asked in an interview whether she would stick with the story as it comes to its conclusion, she said, “No,” and stated, “I’m not going to be on the television show.”
It’s all sort of confusing because LionsGate decided to split the third Divergent book into two movies. So while they have made three movies, they have yet to conclude the story. After the third movie, that has disappointed the box office, the company decided to turn the final film into a TV movie that they want to spin off into a full series. Neither Woodley nor Miles Teller will return for the TV movie, and it’s pretty unclear which original cast members, if any, will remain.
