The National Award winning actress ‘Shabana Azmi‘ believes that it is important for the film industries of India and Pakistan to have more co-productions to create a spirit of collaboration.
“I think what is required is that we should make many more joint co-production because that will enlarge our audience all over the world, then it’s a non-competitive thing. Sports like cricket create a spirit of collaboration. I think thats what we need”, Shabana Azmi said in a telephonic interview session.
The famous actress, Shabana Azmi’s film “Arth” which was released in 1982 which is now being remade by Pakistani film-maker and actor ‘Shaan Shahid’, for whose outcome she is curious and excited.
The story of the orignal film ‘Arth’ by Mahesh Bhatt, revolves around the director who has an extra marital affair with a woman. He leaves his wife who then goes searching for her real identity.
When Shabana Azmi was asked whether she would like to work in a Pakistani film, she said;
“If i like the script, I will be happy to work in a film even in Taimbuktu, but the basic requirement is that it should be challenging script,” The actress said.
Recently, in her upcoming movie ‘Neerja’, Shabana will be playing a role of Rama Bhanot, the mother of flight attendant Neerja Bhanot who died in a hijacked plane while saving the lives of the passengers.
