Salma Agha is a British singer and actress of Pakistani origin who sang as well as acted in Indian films in the 1980s and the early 1990s. Her first film was B.R Chopra’s Nikaah for which she won the Filmfare Best Female Playback Award for the ghazal “Dil Ke Armaan Aansuon Mein Beh Gaye”.
Recently, in an Instagram post the legendary Salma Agha revealed the she has started working on her autobiography, which will be full of surprises for all her fans.
In January 2017, Indian government announced that Salma Agha would get Overseas Citizenship of India given to foreign citizens of Indian origin, facilitating her travel and residence in India without applying for a visa each time and without periodically reporting to police during her stay (as required of other foreigners).
Presently, she stays in Mumbai, where her daughter Sasha is acting in Bollywood films, while her husband lives in Dubai. Salma Agha revealed to Filmfare in 2013 that she is not from Pakistan. Her father, a precious stones and antiques businessman, was from Amritsar, India, who settled in London.
Well we might believe we know all about her, but as per Salma Agha there are still a lot of leaves left unturned, so let’s just wait for the cat to come out of the bag!
