Timothée Chalamet stars as King Henry V in the upcoming Netflix movie The King, but Robert Pattinson’s new look in his supporting role as The Dauphin has already stolen the crown. Everything Pattinson does is big news to his fans, which has been the case since Harry Potter and Twilight, and only escalated now that we know he’s the next Batman. Now — love it or hate it — fans are still obsessing over Pattinson’s hair in The King trailer.

Yeah, there are a lot of Twilight references flying around in reference to the long hair and the pale skin. Some fans said they’re just waiting for him to sparkle in the sun. Other fans are making comparisons to Game of Thrones characters, like Jaime Lannister or Loras Tyrell.

Like most actors, Robert Pattinson is no stranger to changing his look for films. He’s had unique hair before — facial and on his head — and worn interesting wigs in the past. Fans had a lot to say about The King wig, with some fans loving it:

A few Timothée Chalamet fans were upset that Robert Pattinson ended up trending when The King trailer came out instead of, you know, the king. (Chalamet does have a history of being sensitive about roles.) Since everyone was obsessed with the new looks, hair and makeup designer Flora Moody explained how scary it was to cut Timothée’s hair – since the Call Me By Your Name star’s hair had a fan following of its own:
The King adapts Shakespeare’s Henry IV (Parts 1 and 2) and Henry V. It was co-written by Joel Edgerton, who also plays Falstaff to Timothée Chalamet’s King Henry V. The supporting cast also includes Lily-Rose Depp (Yes, Johnny’s daughter) as Catherine and Ben Mendelsohn as King Henry IV. The film was directed and co-written by David Michôd.

This could be great … but I still wish it were a Netflix series instead of a movie. It just seems like too much story for one film. The King will premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 2. It’ll have a limited release in October before streaming on Netflix on November 1.
Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson’s big year continues. He co-stars with Johnny Depp in Waiting for the Barbarians, which is set to premiere in Venice on September 6. Pattinson’s black-and-white horror film with Willem Dafoe, The Lighthouse, opens October 18. In 2020, he has director Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and the thriller The Devil All the Time with Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan and Mia Wasikowska. And I guess he’s also Batman? Matt Reeves’ The Batman is currently scheduled to open in June 2021.
