Nazia Hassan is known as the “Queen of Pop” in South Asia. She started her career in music at the age of 10. She was not just a singer but she was a song-writer, lawyer and social activist as well.
Nazia Hassan, along with her brother Zoheb Hassan introduced pop/indie and disco music in Pakistan. The brother-sister duo put on many entertaining performances. The era of 80s was the time when they made the whole Pakistan sway on their songs.

Nazia Hassan was also a humanitarian and a faithful scholar. She was a lawyer and went to work at The United Nations. She was also a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. She always tried to do something for the youth. Hence, She often attempted to pay a visit to underprivileged schools.
Nazia Hassan was the youngest Pakistani playback singer. She won “Best Playback Singer” at Indian Filmfare Awards at the age of 15. After She released Disco Deewane, her album exceeded the Billboard charts in 14 countries. She was also a first ever Pakistani to reach the British charts with her English version of the song, Disco Deewane as Dreamer Deewane. Nazia Hassan and her brother Zoheb Hassan hostee the Pakistan’s first ever Competitive Show Music ’89 related to Pop-Music.
Nazia Hassan was awarded the ‘Pride of Pakistan Award’, a highest civilian award by the Government of Pakistan.
Her album, Young Tarang was the first Pakistani album which had music videos. Nazia Hassan has started her career as a Commercial singer and starred in PTV shows in the 70s as a singer as well.
People still wish to go back in Nazia Hassan era, there is no surprise in that. Therefore, No one can take her place. She was gem, a singing wonder, and a truly marvelous performer. She was a voice of Pakistanis regardless of what class or caste they were linked to.
