No wonder, public bathrooms are probably the most uninspiring places in the world. In fact, most of the time we can’t wait to get in and get out as quickly as possible. But there is one interesting aspect of public restrooms that’s overlooked, which you probably haven’t noticed before (and if you have, it probably wasn’t for a good reason), and i can bet, after knowing the reason, you will never look at public restrooms the same way again.
A STANDARD PUBLIC TOILET
By looking at this image, it seems like there’s not much to question, right?
But there’s something you’re missing. Look closely!
Hint: Check out the floor and the ceiling.
That’s right; there’s a whole lot of space between the door and the floor/ceiling. But the question is WHY?
If someone has a problem in there, it is easier for people to realize what’s going on and come in and help. Whether in need of a toilet paper or a tampon.
Easily repairable when things go wrong.
Cheaper and effective; installing doors like these are cheaper to install.
It also helps people tell if the bathroom is occupied, because let’s face it, having to knock and interrupt someone is not nice.
The gaps also prevent bad behaviour.
