Priyanka Chopra apologized after being criticized a week ago for wearing a T-shirt that was oblivious to refugees and immigrants on a Conde Nast Traveller magazine cover.
Priyanka Chopra was harshly criticized on social media for wearing a T-shirt that was insensitive to refugees and immigrants. But, she has now apologized for hurting the feelings of people and said that she feels horrible.
The T-shirt she wore for the cover recommended that she is a traveller, and not a refugee, immigrant or outsider. This didn’t go down well with many who called her out for showing her honour and for being insensitive to the difficulty of refugees.
Priyanka Chopra told NDTV: “I’m really apologetic about sentiments being hurt. I have always been against labels. I am very affected and feel really horrible, but the message has been misconstrued. The magazine was very clear that they wanted to send a message about addressing xenophobia with labels.”
Condé Nast Traveller released a statement; in protection of the cover choice, noting that the magazine created the T-shirt to make a statement in contradiction of xenophobia.
