Amal Clooney’s position in the Duchess of Sussex’s inner circle became clear when she attended her intimate baby shower in New York last month. But it seems Meghan isn’t the barrister’s only friend in the Firm.
Power couple George and Amal have become a familiar sight in royal circles of late, having dazzled the crowds on arrival at Harry and Meghan’s Windsor wedding in May last year. In February Amal, 41, who wore sunshine yellow Stella McCartney to attend the ceremony at St George’s Chapel, was snapped arriving at the Mark Hotel in Manhattan in a red Sergio Hudson jumpsuit to attend the Duchess’ baby shower.
Clooney is said to have been tapped by Meghan’s father-in-law, Prince Charles, to work with his charity the Prince’s Trust. The human rights lawyer, who attended a dinner hosted by Charles at Buckingham Palace with her husband George Clooney this week, is understood to have been lined up to spearhead the first global youth campaign for Prince’s Trust International, according to the Daily Mail, which said Charles finds the barrister “deeply impressive”.
The Clooneys were guests of honour at a dinner held to celebrate the work of the Prince’s Trust which was also attended by the actors Chiwetel Ejiofor, Luke Evans, Tamsin Egerton, Josh Hartnett and Benedict Cumberbatch. Amal wore a spectacular white Jean-Louis Scherrer by Stephane Rolland 2007 Haute Couture gown for the event.
