Pizza delivery boy tests positive for Covid19 in Delhi!

A delivery agent of a local pizza outlet in Malviya Nagar area of Delhi has tested positive for novel coronavirus.

As being reported, the pizza delivery boy had been showing symptoms for around 20 days.

His test results came out on April 14 and showed that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

The boy is now admitted to a hospital in Delhi where his condition is stated to be stable.

17 other delivery boys from the outlet where the boy works were put under institutional quarantine, after this development.

As per reports, the pizza outlet in Delhi where the patient was working has been temporarily closed for 14 days.

The decision was taken as a precautionary measure, the outlet said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Delhi administration has traced over 70 families where the agent had gone to deliver food.

As being reported, these families belong to Delhi’s Malviya Nagar and Hauz Khas, the two main areas where the delivery boy had gone in the past 20 days.

As of Thursday, Delhi has over 1,500 positive cases. Delhi has the second-highest number of coronavirus cases in India after Maharashtra. Two coronavirus-related deaths were reported in Delhi on Wednesday.

The food delivery service provider for which the boy worked has issued a statement in connection with a delivery agent testing positive for COVID-19.

In its statement, Zomato said some of the deliveries made by the concerned restaurant were done via the platform. “We are not sure whether the rider was infected at the time of delivery,” Zomato said.

While the pizza chain Domino’s has also issued a statement, taking it to Twitter, Domino’s said that the incident of a delivery agent testing positive for coronavirus had nothing to do with the chain.
