The survival of Pakistani film industry still depends upon the Indian film industry. Let’s face it Pakistan’s crumbling infrastructure of cinema houses is still unfit to compete.
People want to come and see Indian films because we share the same language, the same culture but what they get in return are stories, scenes that are so predictable that you can just tell what’s gonna happen next because everyone has seen the same things I don’t know how many times.
The traditional home of Pakistan’s “Lollywood”, still needs to work out how to make films, on a fraction of Bollywood’s budgets, that can compete in a sea of Indian movies.
I believe Pakistani film makers and as well as artists need to increase the standards of their work. It’s about time we should start thinking what a successful Pakistani cinema really needs.
