It is good to see that Pakistani films are now being recognized all over the world that is the reason why Pakistani movie Cake which was loved by everyone will now be running for Foreign Language Film Award at 91st Academy Awards.
The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee, led by two-time Academy Award and Emmy winning narrative movie producer Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, has chosen Cake to be submitted for Oscar thought in the ‘Foreign Language Film Award’ classification at the 91st Academy Awards.
The board is led by two-time Academy Award and Emmy winning narrative movie producer Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and incorporates Kamila Shamshi [Novelist], Saira Kazmi [Actress and Director}, HM Naqvi [Novelist], Hadiqa Kiani [singer, musician, and philanthropist], Ali Sethi [Singer and writer]. Zoe Viccaji [Singer, Song-essayist, and melodic actress], Nadeem Farooq Paracha [Journalist, writer, and social critic], Nabila Maqsood [Haistylist and entrepreneur], Khalid Malik [Actor and Radio Jockey] and Faisal Qureishi [Actor].
Cake takes after the lives of two sisters, one of whom lives abroad and the other is ‘left’ behind. Loaded with blame and feelings of hatred, the sisters stand up to old insider facts and understand that occasionally the main path for a family to proceed onward, is by finding a route back. The movie stars driving Pakistani on-screen characters, Sanam Saeed, Aamina Sheik and Adnan Malik in critical jobs and is the introduction highlight for essayist/chief Asim Abbasi. It has been created by Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari.
Discussing the gesture, Abbasi shares, “I am extremely honoured to have Cake representing Pakistan this year, and grateful to the selection committee for considering it worthy. My deepest gratitude for my Cakefamily, who worked so hard and with so much belief to bring this film to the audiences. 2018 is proving to be a great year for Pakistani cinema. May it continue to grow and may we always find the courage and the vision to tell our stories our own way.”
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will pick the last chosen people for all honor classes including Best Foreign Language Film in January 2019. The entire and last rundown of Oscar chosen people will be announced on January 22, 2019 with the introduction appear for the 91st Academy Awards planned to occur on February 24, 2019.
