There is always a certain shame that comes along with getting rich. People perceive rich people as arrogant, in whatever they do. Here are five Pakistani drama stereotypes we need to break;
Egoistic
From Humsafar to Sheher e Zaat to Zindagi Gulzar Ha; you might get the impression that wealthy socialites are the source of most of the world’s problem. Usually women from this category are often seen wearing designer clothes and heavy makeup. Yet despite all their arrogance they manage to produce wonderfully obedient sons like Asher Hussain and Zaroon Junaid. Instead of taking care of their husband’s mansion they are seen running NGO’s while, at the same time, shouting at their servants. How ironic!
The spoiled child
My question to you all is how these lazy egocentric younger version of the older socialite manage to get in the top most universities and mange to get the same qualification as the middle class heroine when they know is how to spend money and go to those high class committees? Seriously how do they do that?
The obsessed lover
On screen, we often see a wealthy playboy who is determined to get a girl; He can do everything for her from buying the entire business to getting her a house and some even kidnap the girl. Enough already, is this fairy tale? Such people do not exist and if they did it would be a criminal case not some source of romantic fantasy.
The helpless woman
This is one the most common issue in our society; Women are always portrayed as innocent person who despite of injustice, physical abuse and the constant emotional trauma still manages to put a smile on her face. For the love of God stop showing women helpless, they are not dependent on anyone they are in charge of their own happiness. Instead of showing women inferior why not show women who handle their problems and disadvantages in life with dignity and courage?
The she-devil
Why do woman always have to be to blame for the straying hero? Out of the whole world, why women are seen falling for one guy for whom she can do anything to gain his attention and if that person marries someone else she tries her level best to destroy his marriage. Why can’t man take the blame for ruining the relationship? Why not allowing men to have some sense of responsibility?
