According to Country Representative of WHO Dr. Palitha Mahipala, Pakistan can be the next country that will get polio-free. In this event organized on Saturday, Dr. Mahipala appreciated the government of Pakistan for its contribution in the effort to curb polio throughout the country.
He said that as the effort has been successful in Africa, now the organization is determined with its partners to end polio in Pakistan as well. Although, the activities have been affected due to lockdowns and pandemic now the organization is determined to ramp-up its operations.
He urged the community and parents of Pakistani kids to play an active role and cooperate with the teams in the vaccination process.
Polio is a highly harmful disease and its eradication is only possible if every child in the country is vaccinated. There are 31 million children under the age of five that should be vaccinated.
