Oxford University’s rehearsal hall named after Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has left no stone unturned to make Pakistan proud around the world. With his internationally acclaimed songs and concerts, Khan is considered a living legend all across the globe. This is why, during his series of concerts at Oxford University, the singer was honoured for the musical impact that he has on people worldwide.

The prestigious university has named its rehearsal hall after the legendary singer, making Khan the first South Asian artist to receive such an accolade in the form of a tribute.

The university’s website has stated that a special honourary concert for Qawwal will be organized by the Faculty of Music on May 25 at Oxford University’s Sheldonian Theatre. He along with a group of students ‘The Fusion Project’ will perform in the fund raising concert, by donating the proceeds to support the faculty of music.

Alongside Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and his mesmerizing voice, a series of original fusion compositions and qawwalis arranged and produced by Rushil Ranjan, the lead singer and guitarist of the Fusion Project, will be presented in the programme.

In response to the dedication and welcome that he has received from the university, the Qawwali singer has decided to present Oxford University with the harmonium of the maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Last year, the same university presented Rahat with a lifetime achievement award.
