Om Puri, who insulted the Indian soldiers, has now apologized to Indians who were angry on his statements. He further said that he deserved to be punished by military courts.
Om Puri, who was invited for a talk show discussion on Hindi film producers’ ban on Pakistani actors had stated: “Did anybody force the soldiers to join the army?” referring to the killings of soldiers in Uri attack.
Following the remarks, zealot groups took aim at the Bollywood star. A lawyer on Tuesday went a mile more and filed a police complaint against him.
He finally apologized to the entire nation by saying: “I am guilty and I deserve a punishment. I want to be tried by the army, I should be court-martialled. I want a constructive punishment.”
“The army should teach me how to use weapons and send me on the same site where those brave men sacrificed themselves for the country. I don’t want to be forgiven. I am pleading to the nation I want to be punished.” the 65-year-old actor stated.
