New York to host 1st “Pakistan Film Festival”

The Pakistani film industry, after going through lots of ups and downs, has finally reached a point where we can see it progressing. Finally, it is going to hold the first ever film festival in New York.

The festival has been organized by the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations. The event is scheduled for 3rd and 4th December.

The New York film festival will feature recent films including Dobara Phir Say, 3 Bahadur, Dance Kahani, Lahore Say Agay, Actor in Law, Mahe Mir, Ho Mann Jahaan and Dukhtar.

Maleeha Lodhi who is a permanent ambassador of Pakistan in United Nations worked hard in collaboration with UN Pakistan to make this event a reality. Speaking to the media she said;

“Young film-makers in Pakistan are producing an incredibly diverse and entertaining array of movies which are contributing to the cultural renaissance under way in the country which is also reflected in the profusion of creative voices found today in Pakistan’s art, music, literature and the media. We are bringing some of Pakistan’s movies to New York so that diplomats from 193 countries at the UN also have an opportunity to see what the country’s entertainment industry is producing.”
