Stand-up comedian and writer, Varun Grover, best known for writing the critically-acclaimed 2015 film Masaan, which starred Vicky Kaushal, also co-wrote India’s first original web series – Sacred Games. Earlier, the season 2 of Sacred Games was going to happen next year but after news dropped that Varun Grover has been accused of sexual harassment in the trending MeToo campaign in India, the web series has not only received critical-acclaim in India but has also been lauded by the international audience. Be it, Saif and Nawaz’s performance, Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap’s direction or Varun Grover’s writing, ever aspect of the series was loved by one and all and fans can’t seem to wait for season 2 to drop because season 1 left us at a cliff-hanger gasping and wanting for more.
Grover was quick to deny the allegations on his Twitter and later also put out a detailed official statement clarifying and negating every single detail in the alleged accusation.
I completely, totally, categorically deny all the allegations being made. The screenshot in question is untrue, misleading, and defamatory to say the least. Issuing a detailed statement soon.

However, it seems that the OTT platform, which featured the show are apprehensive about going forward with the second season of the show because of the fact that it has been co-written by Varun Grover and the platform is worried for their image being tarnished for associating with a sexual harassment accused.
In the light of the recent allegations against one of the writers of Sacred Games, Varun Grover, Netflix is considering some options on how to tackle the situation. They may drop the successful web series completely (which turned around Saif’s career once more) or drop the name of writer.”
Well, now that Varun’s side is out in the open and the writer is getting support from celebrities and fans, it’ll be interesting to see what the OTT platform decides by the end of it. Sacred Games was a stupendous hit among fans and critics alike and it’ll be a huge loss for fans if the platform decides to drop it from their schedule.
