The debate over questionable content of Pakistani morning shows is never-ending. Barring a few exceptions, most of the morning pick the wrong issues to discuss and receive criticism for that on social media.
A recent show invited social media sensation Nasir Khan Jan and unsurprisingly, things went south. A clip from the interview has gone viral where the host, Mohammad Shuaeb can be seen belittling Khan in a condescending tone.
Many fled to Khan Jan’s side and called out the aggressive behaviour of host Mohammad Shuaeb and commended Khan Jan for not losing his calm throughout.
Nasir has since then released a video message, thanking fans for supporting him. “TV channels that invite people to their shows must show respect to their guests. I didn’t even know these kinds of questions would be asked. I am very thankful to my fans and hope they will continue to support me,” he said.
“When you invite a guest on your show, please respect them. If you treat them with respect, more will happily come on your show. I wasn’t aware of the questions I would be asked and what would happen on [Naya Din].”
He adds, “Whenever we go on a show, we hope to get a positive reception and to be treated nicely because they are representing us. We don’t expect them to degrade us and ruin our image.”
It all comes down to how thoughtless it is for the host of a well-reputed channel to invite a guest to their show and constantly target them and their work. Many on Twitter, including celebrities and journalists, have spoken up against the behaviour of the hosts of the show.
I think #nasirkhanjan is owed a VERY PUBLIC apology. What happened to him was akin to bullying and humiliation.

This is pretty shameful – I know morning shows are not doing well on most channels, but this one on Samaa takes the cake – invites a guest only to insult him – copying this from Arnab Goswami I presume who has perfected it to an art – credit to Nasir Khan Jan who kept his cool pic.twitter.com/p90ecYwcor

The media desperately needs to be more responsible. The @SAMAATV host needs to issue an apology to #NasirKhanJan and frankly, to everyone else for subjecting them to such shitty television.

Media culture to trial people because they think differently than you guys do? #NasirKhanJan is equal human why would he be stressed through anchor’s unethical behavior?

Later, the host took to Twitter to share his stance and wrote, “I respect criticism and silence is my best response. Watch complete show, Live session afterwards and then follow haters.”
“I respect criticism and silence is my best response. Watch complete show, Live session afterwards and then follow haters. Simple ????”
