A Florida mother is accusing a Netflix series about a high school girl who kills herself for her daughter’s real-life suicide attempt.
The lady, who wishes to stay mysterious, told that her slit her wrists in the bathtub in the same manner that fictional teen Hannah Baker does in the show “13 Reasons Why.”
The attempt occurred on Mother’s Day and was a piece of a suicide settlement including four other teens, as indicated by the mother.
“It’s taking too long… it’s not like on 13 Reasons,” the young lady messaged two young men who the mother accepts were a part of the pact.
The girl was allegedly talking with the young men on Snapchat while additionally sending photos. The mother said the conversation of three girls and two boys settled on a choice of running away together or, if that didn’t work, to kill themselves in the meantime.
The alarmed mother said that, while whatever is left of the family commended the occasion, her little girl was being encouraged to slaughter herself over Snapchat.
“The boy let our daughter send a video of herself. She took a pencil sharpener apart to get the blade out,” she said.
The young lady reportedly then cut the two arms open from the wrist almost to the elbow. One of the boy called 911 after the girl sent photos of her arm on Snapchat.
She was then taken to an emotional wellness office in the wake of being dealt with in a crisis room. She’s home now and recuperating, as per a report. Her mom said the girl would pull through however that she’s “angry that show is out there.”
Netflix said in an announcement they are “very saddened to hear about this and grateful to those who intervened to help.”
Since the show’s presentation and resulting notoriety, a few different families have made comparative claims that the show has a negative impact..
