Amir made his first-class appearances in ODI and Test Cricket in Sri Lanka in 2009 at the age of 17 as one of the brightest prospects. However, after being banned for 5 years Amir missed a large part of his cricket career due to his contribution in spot-fixing scandal in 2011 and again returned to continue in 2016, where he combated every game to help the National side win the tournaments bursting into the cricketing scene being the major nuts and bolts of the team.
