Meditation is a practice in which an individual used a technique such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thoughts or activity. Meditation is practiced in numerous religious traditions. Now What is Mindfulness ? It is basically the ability to the present, to rest in the here and now, fully engaged with whatever we’re doing in the moment. Meditation is a mental exercise that involves relaxation, focus, and awareness. Meditation is to the mind what physical exercise is to the body. The practice of Meditation is usually done individually, in a still seated position, and with eyes closed.
In Psychology, Meditation is defined as “A family of mental training practices that are designed to familiarise the practitioner with specific types of mental processes”. There is no such thing as perfect Meditation. Sometimes your focus will wander or you will forget to follow your breath. It takes time to get more comfortable with your mind.
To begin meditating, first find a place where you can sit comfortably and quietly. Then close your wyes and do nothing for a minute or so. Thoughts may come during that time but it’s completely okay. Listen to the mantra in complete silence. One should meditate every morning and every evening for at least 15 to 30 minutes.
