We all have been watching our forever favorite Mahira Khan’s new drama serial ‘Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay’ which has also been trending before it even aired on television for all the right reasons. This story is an adaptation of the homonymous novel by Umera Ahmed and directed by Farooq Rind successfully recreates the literary narrative on screen. From the narrator’s voiceover in the first scene to the cliffhanger in the final episode, this drama entices you as a great read. It moves at a fast enough pace to balance the intensity of the story, but ever since Mashal died in the drama the public couldn’t stop but react on the fact that Aswad’s mom really did Mashal dirty:
Aswad is like most Paki sons, Amma nai maanengi after playing active role in a relationship when it is time to get married is nothing new for us. Aswad’s mom has portrayed the negative character for me, being a stubborn mom who would sacrifice her son’s happiness to keep someone else happy. She happily and peacefully destroyed the lives of two lovers because of which Mashal had to attempt sui*ide, the trauma Mashal had to go through was real and what she had gone through must be felt by most of us since this is the story of every other household. ‘Amma nai maanengi’ is the first and top excuse for boys to bail on their commitment and we feel bad for Mashal, she had to sacrifice her own life because Aswad couldn’t convince his mom for the girl he loved. If any of you are going through such situation as well, please know that sacrificing your life and putting your parents in a vulnerable situation is not going to put you in peace, instead be a strong woman and let all the Aswad’s out there live miserably in pain. They don’t deserve you.
