The renowned Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat is widely known for his lead roles in films in the entertainment industry. Recently, the Government of Pakistan honoured her with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, which is an award given to a civilian in Pakistan, based on his/her achievement.
Apart from that, she was also awarded two International Lux Style Awards lately which are Pakistan’s biggest entertainment awards. Besides doing films, we have seen Mehwish representing Pakistan at the International level. And now she has joined hands in a great cause for her country.
On Sunday, Mehwish attended an inspirational all-women cricket tournament, where she was appointed as the Penny Appeal’s ambassador. She said, “Penny Appeal is an amazing charity organization that’s working in over 30 countries and I’m very happy to be on board with them and I want to work for education.”
She realizes the fact that education in rural Sindh is very poor and parents really want to give their children good schooling. However, there are little or no resources. She further stated, “Many don’t realize that if a young girl wants to raise a family, education is very important and if she gets the primary education, she will have the power to decide if she wants to continue… so maybe giving them that basic education, the girls will have a voice which actually will in the longer run, help raise and build nations. That will be amazing.”
On Monday, the actress also interacted with local Muslim mothers and children present at the Women zone family center. It is told that the charity raised during this Marathon run will go towards Penny Appeal’s education campaign. And the funds will then be used to reconstruct five schools in Sukkur, Sindh.
We are proud of Mehwish Hayat for actually doing something for Pakistan!
