The recently released trailer of upcoming Indian film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which stars Shahid Kapoor in the lead role, is being compared to Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza’s 2016 film, Actor In Law. The film highlighted the issue of load shedding in Pakistan, among other things, and Batti Gul Meter Chalu follows a similar theme, hinting that India is also facing the same issue.
Mehwish Hayat saw the trailer and couldn’t help but draw a comparison. And tweeted the actor adding that it reminds her of her film Actor in Law.
Like Fahad Mustafa takes the common man’s problem to the court and fights for their rights, here we see Shahid Kapoor fight against corruption in the electricity department. Mehwish further added, “Great to see that our neighbors are now taking inspiration from our movies.”
Just saw the #BattiGulMeterChaluTrailer . Major dejavu! reminds me a lot of my film “Actor in law”. Great to see that our neighbours are now taking inspiration from our movies.@nabeelqureshi @fahadmustafa26

Anyhow it’s great to see Bollywood taking ‘inspiration’ from our films, make us feel more proud. However, the makers and cast of Actor in Law are not really happy for not giving the credits to them.
