Television’s Powerpuff Girls are adding a fourth sister to their ranks. The cartoon superhero trios of Bubbles, Buttercup and Blossom have a new sister: Bliss.
Bliss was added to the Cartoon Network in early September in a five-part movie event, The Powerpuff Girls: The Power of Four.
In the special, Bliss was revealed to be an older sister to the original Powerpuff trio, created by Professor Utonium with the same blend of “sugar, spice, everything nice” he used for Bubbles, Buttercup and Blossom. Unlike her younger sisters, however, the mysterious chemical Bliss was created which causes her powers to get out of control when her mood changes.
Bliss disappeared before the series started. Now she’s returned as a teenager to fight crime in Townsville, reunited with her sisters and her long-lost family.
Multiple actresses from around the world are lending their voice talents to Bliss, with different actresses voicing the character in different regions.
In the New Zealand version she’s voiced by Chinese-Australian YouTube star Wendy Ayche, known online as Wengie.
Bliss will make her New Zealand debut at 10.25am on Saturday September 23.
