Matthew McConaughey celebrated his 50th birthday by joining the world of Instagram. It’s more of a birthday gift to us than one for himself, but it appears the actor is having fun with his account and has already updated his grid. Taking inspiration from Jennifer Aniston, the father-of-three might be late to join the online party but now he’s here, there’s no turning back. And his first post is a hoot, as he welcomed his fans to his new venture.
That’s right folks, the now-50-year-old actor is finally on Instagram after all these years, and he’s kick-started things in probably the best way possible with a self-crafted rap.
McConaughey made the announcement on Twitter earlier today (November 4), posting a black and white video of him walking down a dimly-lit corridor while pointing towards the camera.
Talking into the camera, the birthday boy explained his reasons behind making an account on the social media platform, and how he’s slightly nervous for what’s to come. He told his initial 570,000 followers: ‘When people come to my page, I want them to see me.
The True Detective star added: ‘I’m not quite sure I want to have the dialogue. But I know I have to have the dialogue, too […] So I’m looking forward to it, I’m looking forward to it. ‘I’m looking forward to sharing who I am with you, to seeing if who I am translates, if what I want to share translates… ‘If it tickles your funny bone, if it makes you think a second, if it makes your heart swell up a little bit, if it makes you take a quiet moment and go for a walk… Let’s have some fun with it though.
