“Goals may give focus, but dreams give power”, this is a perfect quote to describe the pride of Pakistan, Amir King Khan. With passion for boxing in his heart and support of his family he started off his career at a very early age of 18, winning his first fight against David Bailey in 2005. Since then, there was no stopping for Mr. Khan. The international boxing star is not just making his way in the world of boxing for his own but, encouraging others to step into this field. For this purpose he visited Pakistan last year, met with his fans and aspiring boxers in Lyari and motivated them for the revival of boxing in Pakistan.
Amir Khan Trust in collaboration with HBL, is all set for HBL Superstar Boxing Event. Amir Khan along with the seven international boxers Tasif Khan, Gallagher Dayle, Jody Meikle, Stuart Maddox, Francis Peter Douglas Croes, Phil Townley and his brother Haroon, Harry King Khan are going to have boxing matches in Karachi. The HBL Superstar Boxing Event is an effort of Amir Khan Trust to raise funds to provide clean drinking water for the citizens of Thar. The initiative taken by Amir Khan Trust is to support the boxing culture and encouraging international events in Pakistan. The boxing matches will be held in Pearl Continental Karachi on June 2nd, 2016. As per his promise he made last time that he would come back and train aspiring boxers, for that a Public Workout session at Frere Hall is organized on June 1st, 2016 where people can train with him. This is certainly going to be quite a session for all the fitness freaks.
While addressing the media at the press conference Khan Said,” Our youth posses’ immense potential but they lack opportunities and guidance in the field of sports. The idea is to bring international boxing to Pakistan and to support world class entrainment and exposure of boxing in the country. The Amir Khan foundation has been working globally to eradicate poverty and facilitate in providing basic necessities of life to the underprivileged. He further added, Thar has been victimized with a number of sad incidents including poverty and lack of clean drinking water which has resulted in massive death toll. With this initiative we have played our role in bringing a positive change to the society and the tremendous response by our partners and donors has further elevated the cause”.
The entire event is supported by BIBA (British & Irish Boxing Authority) from the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland and organized under the banner of IRIS, an established Karachi based event company and Totem+, a London-based events and branding agency. It’s not just a fight or a source of entertainment but a fight for a noble cause. A person living in England thinking about people dying due to lack of water in Thar needs a standing ovation for such a thought. Good luck to all the boxers for the fight night, good luck Reema Siddqui & Omar Satti from Iris. Looking for an amazing week with the super star learning, sucker punches and jabs!
