Fawad Khan and Ali Zafar, both, were in hot waters pre-Indian movies release. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Dear Zindagi, starring both the celebrities respectively, passed through the censor board finally without uncut scenes. However, the question has been resonating in everybody’s mind that; “Would Mahira Khan be lucky enough to get away from the Indian extremism in Raees”?
The answer might be NO!
As per the reports by Mumbai Mirror, Mahira Khan was supposed to fly to Dubai in order to shoot for a song and an introduction scene. But, it seems that only Shah Rukh Khan has been flown for the shooting and Mahira has been left out.
The source has stated; “Mahira is an attractive and popular Pakistani actress and Raees is her big-ticket Bollywood launch. But while she does play Shah Rukh’s love interest, it is not really a romantic film.
“Her role is like Parveen Babi’s in Yash Chopra’s 1975 crime-drama Deewaar. That one revolved around two warring brothers, Vijay and Ravi, played by Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor. This one revolves around the conflict between Shah Rukh Khan who plays a bootlegger, Raees Alam, and ACP Ghulam Patel enacted by Nawaz (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who is on his trail. So, it wasn’t difficult to trim her role which has been done with the intention of not hurting public sentiment.”
Mahira Khan is playing the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s wife in the movie, but her role is minute and that too with inconsequential sequence; this is why she might have been considered insignificant to call off for complete shooting.
