The famous American singer-songwriter Madonna proudly narrated Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s latest documentary, a film on late Pakistani social media starlet, Qandeel Baloch.
“Proud to narrate my friend Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s latest film about Qandeel Baloch, the Pakistani social media star, who was murdered by her brother in an ‘honor killing,'” Madonna shared an instagram post:
She praised the Pakistani government for closing a legal gap that had long been broken by offenders in the country to escape penalty after murdering a loved one in the name of ‘honour’.
“The Pakistan government finally just passed the anti-honour killing bill, closing the loophole that allowed killers to walk free,” she said. “So good to see positive change happen in the world.”
The prominent singer also expressed sorrow, saying, “too bad Qandeel and so many others had to die first.”
