Lux is highlighting the ‘Lux’ ambassadors through the years in 2018’s Lux Style Awards

Lux Style is the biggest award show in Pakistan and arguably the most controversial. Last year HSY, took over Lux Style Awards (LSA) from Frieha Altaf for the first time since its inception 16 years ago and now after HSY announced that he is not going to be the show director for this year’s event, recently ex-model Vaneeza Ahmed took over this harrowing task and honor.

Seeing the current cases of the recent child abuse cases that have been exposed in the country, the LSAs are planning to stay away from those typical song and dance performances.

One such segment is going to be highlighting the ‘Lux’ ambassadors through the years and it’s certainly going to be a very nostalgic journey. Spiralling back in time, so many of Pakistan’s most beautiful actresses have been ambassadors for the soap brand: among them, Nisho, Sahiba, Meera, Nirma, Reema, Neeli, Babra Sharif, Resham, Aamina Sheikh, Humaima Malick to present day, with the three ‘M’s, Mahira Khan, Maya Ali and Mawra Hocane lathering on ‘Zara sa Lux’.

“It’s still a very interesting show,” says show director Vaneeza Ahmed. “The LSAs are now in their 16th year and that’s quite an achievement. The platform has grown and has become understandably more socially responsible. It’s giving out a pertinent message against child abuse and spotlighting Frieha Altaf’s recently launched campaign for human rights, #MeinBhi. There’s also plenty of humour and some very interesting segments.”

We are not sure as to exactly how many of the women will be coming on stage. “We are trying to gather as many as we can,” says Vaneeza. Unfortunately, we have heard that Reema and Babra Sharif may be unavailable.

Nevertheless, to have even some of them together on stage is going to be a veritable ‘Lux’ moment – one of those memorable iconic instances that the show manages to deliver every now and then.
