Yes your heard it right! , according to The Hollywood Reporter. CEO Jeff Bemoz of Amazon Studios has emerged as a potential buyer of the drama, although Amazon Studios and Warner Bros. have not released an official statement yet.
The studio and the Tolkien estate have been shopping a series based on the classic fantasy novels and their assortment of hobbits, wizards, and warriors, sparking a competitive situation from which Amazon has emerged as the frontrunner. The news has come out a few months after the Tolkien estate and Warner Bros. settled a five-year, $80 million lawsuit.
The late author’s series was previously adapted for the big screen by director Peter Jackson in the form of three films, culminating in 2003’s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, which won Best Picture – among its 11 Oscars – and collected more than $1 billion at the box office.
The story’s central characters includes wizards, hobbits, dwarves, elves and other magical creatures with supernatural powers. The trilogy has been awarded with over ten Oscars and ranks amongst the top-ten movies of all times
