There’s one thing we learned in 2020 – other than the significance of wearing a mask to secure yourself as well as people around you (sorry, must be said) – it’s that Pakistan cherishes Dirilis Ertugrul.
Hadiqa Kiani is one of the many who adores the show enough to pay tribute by playing out a melody in Turkish. Also, does she convey!
Kiani plays out the track Sen Ağlama magnificently and learn to expect the unexpected. This isn’t the first run through she’s sung it!
According to the singer, “As a child, I represented Pakistan in the International Children’s Festival in Turkey and in 2005 I returned to the great country to once again represent Pakistan at the iconic Ataturk Cultural Center and Opera House. The highlight of that trip was to sing the hauntingly beautiful “Sen Aglama” (a Turkish song by living legend Sezen Aksu) to a standing ovation, the love I felt from the country of Turkey was unmatched.”
“I remember telling the audience that as Turkey stood beside Pakistan in good and bad times, I wanted to convey the love of Pakistani people for the Turks.”
Talk about full circle!
“The friendship between the two countries will continue to shine through culture, art and love.”
Kiani claims this to be the first run through a Pakistani vocalist has played out a Turkish track and now we’re anticipating that all the more such melodies should release!
