It seems like fans have to wait a little longer till the release of the revival series because creator Terri Minsky is reported to be stepping away from her role as showrunner on the Disney+ series.
The production of the show is now put on hold in the wake of the news after shooting just tw episodes.
“Fans have a sentimental attachment to ‘Lizzie McGuire’ and high expectations for a new series,” said a Disney spokesperson. “After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show.”
The initial story for the series was to follow a 30-year-old Lizzie McGuire’s journey as she navigates through the ups and downs of adulthood. The synopsis read:
“She seemingly has it all – her dream job as an assistant to a fancy New York City Interior Designer, her dream guy and a picturesque Brooklyn apartment – but things aren’t always as they seem. With a little help from her old friends and some new ones to come, her well-meaning family and her 13-year-old alter-ego in animated form, Lizzie navigates the ups and downs of adulthood.”
It is unsure what the “new lens” will end up being and Hilary Duff, who’s currently on honeymoon with her new husband, Matthew Koma in Mozambique, have yet to respond to the news.
Hilary Duff previously posted photos of her with the original McGuire family cast on set as well as Adam Lamberg, who plays her best friend and eventual love, Gordo from the original series.
