Karan Johar has always been supporting the LGBTQ community. He has not even shied away from revealing his own sexual orientation irrespective of the judgmental society that we live in..Of course, there was a time when he wouldn’t spell it out in words considering our nation would consider it to be a crime but today with Supreme Court abolishing Section 377, there’s nothing that can stop a person from falling in love with someone of the same gender.
That is the reason why Karan Johar feels it’s now his responsibility to normalize ‘homosexuality’ even in the movies by making a film on a homosexual love story, just like any other love story. It’s not that Bollywood has not explored the homosexual side, Dostana being the most popular one… but it’s time to move over the stereotypical references made against the community and make a true-to-the heart kind of film for the LGBTQ community.
As Karan made this revelation at the World Economic Forum 2019 held in Switzerland recently, “Being a leading filmmaker, I can make movies on the subject. I would love to make a homosexual love story and would want to cast two leading actors in the film. I don’t have in mind specific names of the actors I want to cast in the film, but I surely want to make such a film.”
We wonder which two actors are on Karan Johar’s mind right now! Any suggestions? Maybe Ranveer Singh-Ranbir Kapoor, or Vicky Kaushal-Rajkummar Rao? But we still don’t know. Let’s just wait for the right time and see.
