“Judge My Work But Not My Morals,” Mehwish Hayat!

Bahria University Karachi Campus recently held an event namely You Go Girl as a part of women empowerment and awareness movement. The all-girls event was attended by notable women from entertainment and private industries who have been able to make a name for themselves in the otherwise male dominated society. The guests of the educational, entertainment and musical program (all amalgamated as one) included Natalia Gul, Parveen Saeed, Hija Kamran, Zainab Ansari and Mehwish Hayat as Chief Guest.

While speaking at the event the Dil Lagi actress had some powerful message for the young girls in the audiences who are soon to enter professional life. “Criticize my work and it’s okay, but why my morals?” said the actress who was recently bullied on social media for her Tamgha e Imtiaz award.

Mehwish went on to add that despite the difficulties she faced in her career, she chose to stay firm on her choices and went against all odds to prove her mettle.

In addition to Mehwish’s motivational words, the attendees of the event also got a chance to experience a self-defense training session by Zainab Ansari (trainer at The Forge) and an informational discussion from Hija Kamran – a digital right specialist – who spoke of counter mechanisms against cyber harassment and bullying.
